- 早年经历
1990年5月30日，林允儿出生于韩国的首尔市永登浦区汝矣岛
洞，中学时期在大永高等学校就读。
2002年，她参加韩国SM娱乐有限公司在首尔市举办的Saturday OpenCasting Audition试镜会，获得甄选合格。在此次选秀会中，林允儿被SM娱乐有限公司发掘，进入该公司当练习生。
2006年，成为东方神起第一场演唱会的嘉宾。
2007年8月5日，经过五年又两个月的密集训练，顺利以女子团体少女时代出道。
2009年，她毕业于大永高等学校；同年2月26日，她参加大学入学测验，被东国大学戏剧电影学系录取。
- 演艺经历
2007年，林允儿首次演出戏剧的出道处女作，在MBC连续
剧《9局下2出局》中客串角色辛珠英。同年8月3日，她所属的组合少女时代发行单曲专辑《再次重逢的世界》。11月1日，少女时代正式发行第一张同名专辑《少女时代》。
2008年，林允儿在KBS长篇电视剧《你是我的命运》中担任剧中的女主角张晨曦，这是林允儿首次担任女主角的电视剧，该剧首集收视就达到23.4%，大结局以40.3%的全国收视率稳居榜首，连续14周蝉联全国收
视冠军。她也凭借该剧在第45届韩国百想艺术大赏上拿下最佳新人奖和人气女演员两个奖项。该剧还于2011年初被中国大陆安徽卫视引进播出。
2009年，少女时代推出首张迷你专辑《Gee》。同年与权相佑出演MBC电视剧《乞丐变王子》，她在剧中饰演女一号徐宥珍，蝉联百想艺术大赏人气女演员奖。
2010年，少女时代发行第二张专辑《Oh!》，获第25届”金唱片大赏--唱片大赏”，成为韩国史上第一个唱片大赏和音源大赏都获得过的歌手，也2014年，少女时代发行迷你专辑《Mr.Mr.》。6月，林允儿受邀出席在迪拜举行的Chanel香奈儿2015早春发布会。12月9日，少女时代圆梦在东京巨蛋举行“少女时代 The Best Live”演唱会，吸引5万多名粉丝，凝聚成一片粉色海洋。
2015年，允儿首次出演中国古装电视剧《武神赵子龙》，与林更新合作。在剧中饰演“夏侯轻衣”一角。
